To the north of Deniliquin is the village of Conargo, the home of the famous Conargo Pub. Conargo's hospitality expands in a big way at Christmas, on New Year's Eve and on Mother's Day, when the village boasts three special events, each of which attract hundreds of visitors.
At Christmas time the Australian Open Hang-gliding Championships are held at Conargo just north of the Billabong Creek. The Championships attract competitors from around the globe. On New Year's Eve Conargo sees out the old year and welcomes the new with its Legendary New Year's Eve Charity Ball. Crowds also flock to the village on Mothers Day for the famous Billabong Bunyip Market, which shows the talent and skill of the region's cottage industries. A huge number of stalls offer quality home-made and hand-made goods for sale, including a wide variety of truly tempting snacks and more substantial food and refreshments.
